Old Town is the name of Fort Collins' historic downtown area. The neighborhood encompasses several of Fort Collins' oldest and most storied areas, including Loomis, Scott Sherwood, Tennyson Heights, Morger-Smith, and Capitol Hill. In recent years, there have also been several new developments built with lofts and townhomes catering primarily to high-end buyers. Still, the area retains a relatively diverse set of housing stock, all enjoying some of the best restaurants, bars, and shops that the city has to offer within walking distance.
As the name implies, Old Town is the oldest part of Fort Collins and the nearest to the site of the abandoned military fort for which the city is named. As a national historic district, it features numerous buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, preserving the architectural charm of its past. At the heart of the area is Fort Collins' recently remodeled Old Town Square, a vibrant plaza with a splash pad and interactive performance stage, hosting community events and live music. This blend of history and modern amenities makes Old Town a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike.
